Bio

Seth Johnson joined KD Trial Lawyers in 2023 as a member of the firm’s Family Law Team. He has a
breadth of knowledge including family law and criminal law. Seth has experience in family court
litigation, including divorce, custody, and child support matters, as well as abuse and neglect cases
involving DSS. With this experience, he gained a keen understanding of how to best protect the interests
of his clients and their children.

After receiving his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2014, Seth practiced for five
years in private firms handling primarily family court matters. He then joined the Department of Social
Services in 2019 and managed abuse and neglect cases in Cherokee County. During this time, he focused
on protecting children from abusive or neglectful parents and guardians, with the hope of providing them
with much needed stability.

Seth then joined the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where he worked for Solicitor Barry Barnette as
an Assistant Solicitor. During his time there he was on the DUI team in Spartanburg County and handled
Civil Forfeitures in both Spartanburg County and Cherokee County.

Seth lives in Spartanburg with his wife and their daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors and
can be seen running with the Rockers Run Club.

  • Why should someone come to KD Trial Lawyers?

We literally have it all here. So often, one legal problem is really several legal problems. Our firm is in the unique position to be able to handle just about every legal angle a case may have. We work together as team to see all the issues, which is a rarity these days.

  • What are your favorite things about your job?

Helping people, hands down. The court system is big and can be really overwhelming to people. I love the ability to help people walk through the system and to advocate for them. Solving problems is the best thing about being a lawyer.

  • What do you like the most about the law?

I like the challenge. I love the courtroom. I think the opportunity to help people who normally feel like they don’t have a voice in the legal system and giving them that voice is the most rewarding thing we as lawyers get to do.
