“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
A famous actor once wrote a letter of encouragement to a young fan who lost her leg in a motorcycle accident. The girl returned the sentiment with a letter of her own, telling the famous actor that she wasn’t scared as she knew Jesus was there for her, and that she hoped the famous actor also knew Jesus—and if he didn’t, to give his heart to Jesus before it was too late.
Upon reading the letter the famous actor bowed his head and prayed, a prayer I can only imagine was something like this: Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I will trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior.”
Three weeks later, the famous actor died.
I don’t wear my faith on my sleeve, and I am indeed a sinner. But I, like everyone, am only human. It’s never too late to give your life to Jesus—until it is. It’s not ours to know when that time will come, but come it may.
Don’t let time run out for you. Take every opportunity to give to others, to help your community and to make this world a better place. And, perhaps now, bow your head and give your life to Jesus and accept him as your Savior.
